Magic Ruins

Artist: Susan Ann Avery

Susan Ann Avery, known to many in the art world as Spiritfoxy, invokes magic into her virtual paintings. What many artists can't accomplish with oils and acrylics, she manages to do with her paint shop online. After entering her art site, Fae Designs by Spiritfoxy, I felt like a kid in a candy store -- so much to see and experience! It took me on quite a fantasy trip, with much enjoyable browsing, to choose which masterpiece to review. I had actually chosen one, and then when going back to get more information, another of her fine works caught my eye and demanded the spotlight.

Spiritfoxy specializes in unique computer graphics, backgrounds, and wallpapers. Her art is featured in several different collections on her web site. She also offers tutorials to visitors, who may wish to learn how to do graphics. Visitors may also commission Susan to create designs for their web sites or businesses.

Susan is as mysterious as her art. When you visit one of her site areas for a bio, she shares that her real name is Spiritfoxy, and that she is from Florida. Born a 60's child, Susan is also an excellent vocalist.

I've chosen to review her artwork know as "Magic Ruins." I think what caught my eye, at first, was the title -- having long been interested in the realm of magic, I had to see what magic ruins may look like. What this writer was treated to, was a vision of a world disappearing. We see a mystical Unicorn taking one last look back, as he sees his very existence disappearing into the mist. Other fairy-like Unicorns, like himself, are being carried away in magical bubbles. The spirits of his friends are floating up into what may be oblivion, never to be seen again.

Susan has chosen soft aqua blues and greys to tell her story. The last Unicorn is looking back, much like Lot from the Bible did when his wife was turned to salt. Our focus is then drawn to a statue, placed next to what columns remain of this vanishing magical place. The statue is perhaps of a robed Goddess, who appears to be standing guard against the evil Wizard that has wielded black magic.

Visit Spiritfoxy's site for a truly magical experience!
